Dominion Energy expects a $500m price tag for the first US Jones Act compliant vessel able to install 12MW and larger next-generation offshore wind turbines that a consortium it leads will build and have in service as early as December 2023, the utility told Recharge.

The vessel represents a significant step in developing a domestic manufacturing supply chain to support the emerging offshore wind industry along the east coast, where states have committed to procure 29GW of capacity so far.
