Green hydrogen from floating wind adds up for Europe 'even if Middle East imports cheaper'

Floating wind could stay Europe’s best option for industrial-scale green hydrogen production – even if imported renewable H₂ ends up being cheaper on a per kilogram basis, said analysts at Roland Berger.

The German consultancy in a new report says offshore wind based H₂ in general offers Europeans “a cheaper, faster and more robust solution compared to onshore hydrogen production”, with advantages that range from lower environmental impact from infrastructure to reduced variability of power supply.
