Global wind turbine orders slumped 45% in the second quarter of 2020, with surging offshore demand making up more than a third of all business in the period, said research group Wood Mackenzie.

The research group said despite the steep fall, the 17GW-plus of turbines worth about $16bn ordered in the April-June quarter still adds up to a “solid haul” that beat the same periods in 2016-18.
