Global installed capacity will rise to 409GW from its level of 157.9GW at the end of 2009, representing an annual growth rate of 21%, according to figures provided by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).

The US and Chinese markets, which “have exceeded all expectations in recent years”, will become even more dominant in the years ahead.

The Chinese market is expected to continue its rampage, thanks to “very aggressive” government policies intended to spur the domestic industry.
