Spain-based global wind power developer Elawan Energy is up for sale, according to reports.

Parent conglomerate ACEK is seeking a possible $2bn deal for Elawan, formerly known as Gestamp Wind, according to financial newswire Reuters, which cited unnamed sources close to the matter.

Elawan has a 1.3GW development base spanning projects in Europe, the US and Brazil.

The company has also seen progress in Argentina, where it dominated the country’s third renewable power tender in 2019.

Its most recent reported success came in December 2019 when it won a tender to run four wind farms in Poland totaling 36MW in a tender held there.

Reuters said ACEK has hired investment bank Lazard to help secure a sale, prompted by strong interest in the renewable energy sector.

Elawan has been contacted by Recharge for comment.
