Iberdrola says the entire structure – which includes the substation, jackets, offshore platform and piles – weighs around 8,500 tonnes. It was delivered on schedule and will be shipped to the German Baltic Sea this month.
Iberdrola chairman Ignacio Sanchez Galan highlighted the “catalytic effect” that Iberdrola has had on Spanish companies through developing this project. “At the Puerto Real [shipyard], the execution of this contract has created jobs for hundreds of workers and involved over 120 regional companies as suppliers.”
