Germany should change the way it taxes energy to end wrong incentives that block investment and innovation, while making better use of its rising wind power capacity, the country’s wind energy federation BWE said.
A way to reach that would be to scrap a current tax on electricity all consumers have to pay as part of their power costs, and replace it by a CO2 levy paid by emitters, the group stressed.
