German transmission grid operator Amprion - which so far hasn't connected offshore wind farms to land - has presented a concept for what it calls ‘networking offshore wind farms’ across Europe that could be implemented in a modular way.
The concept called ‘European Offshore Busbar,’ or Eurobar, proposes that the new generation of offshore platforms in the North Sea should be designed from the planning stage to be connected to an offshore network.
