Germany’s government expects to reach its 65% renewable power target by 2030 mainly through a massive build-up of solar energy, with onshore wind additions only seen recovering in 2023, according to the draft of a reform of the country’s Renewable Energy Act (EEG) seen by Recharge.

Berlin expects PV installations of 4GW this year, and sees an expansion of between 4.6GW and 5.6GW annually to be needed in the 2021-29 period.
