Atlanta-based Southern did not release terms of the transaction with Strata Solar, a turnkey developer of community-scale projects between 1MW and 20MW generation capacity.
Strata’s headquarters is in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Southern subsidiary Georgia Power selected Butler in a competitive process as part of the local utility’s Advanced Solar Initiative.
Strata plans to begin construction in July and will manage engineering and procurement for the facility.
