GE wins Pro Ventum order for 36 wind turbines in Thailand

Pro Ventum International, the German wind developer, will use 36 of General Electric’s new 2.5xl wind turbines to power what would be the largest wind project in Thailand.

The 90MW Thep Sathit Wind Farm is planned in Chaiyaphum province, about 250km northeast of Bangkok.

GE signed a memorandum of understanding with Pro Ventum to supply the turbines. The industrial giant says it is also considering an equity investment in what will be the first project in Thailand for both companies.

Thailand is pursuing a goal of 20% renewable electricity by 2020.
