GE unveils full O&M coverage plan for wind turbines

General Electric will offer buyers of its new 2.5xl wind turbines in Europe a full service operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement, covering everything from condition monitoring to corrective maintenance. The company intends to eventually offer the comprehensive coverage on all of its turbine models globally.

GE also announced a 10-year extension of its service contract with Iberwind Group SA covering to Portuguese wind farms. GE says the custom services programme follows an agreement it had with the developer since 2005 and includes parts management for 16 1.5 megawatt (MW) turbines at Iberwind’s projects in Montalegre and Nazaré.

The full-service agreement, announced today at the European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC) in Warsaw, “includes all planned maintenance activities, such as remote monitoring and troubleshooting, routine services, preventative maintenance, on-site support and parts support; as well as unplanned maintenance such as uptower inspection and repair, condition monitoring and turbine performance and life extension solutions”, GE says.
