GE Renewable Energy has won an order by developer Energie Eolienne du Maroc (EEM), a unit of energy company Nareva Holding, to supply 40 units of its Cypress model to a 200MW extension of the Aftissat wind farm in southern Morocco.

EEM will operate the Cypress turbines at 5.0MW, they will feature a rotor diameter of 158MW.

“Morocco has a great potential for wind energy and has been an early mover in the journey toward renewable energy integration, achieving great progress in its renewable energy targets,” said Gilan Sabatier, onshore wind international chief commercial officer at GE Renewable Energy.
