GE and its 50/50 offshore wind joint venture partner Alstom are supplying five of the French firm's Haliade 6MW-150 turbines for the $290m project.

The first five of 15 tower sections are due to arrive this week by ship in Providence, where they will be off-loaded at the facility GE is building there. Each section is 28.9 metres long.

Over the next six months, GE will install the critical electrical, mechanical and safety equipment within the bottom tower sections.
