The turbines will have 100 meter rotors.
The project in southern Morocco is part of a 720MW first phase of the government’s plan to generate 2GW of power from wind by 2020.
Energie Eolienne du Maroc (EEM) is developing the project. The company is a fully-owned subsidiary of Nareva Holding.
Electricity generated by the Akhfennir facility will support local industrial companies.
GE expects the project to demonstrate that wind is cost competitive with alternative forms of power generation.
