GE, the leading US wind turbine manufacturer, says in a court filing that MHI’s variable speed wind turbines infringe on two patents covering zero voltage ride through technology, helping turbines remain connected to the grid during zero-voltage events; and a base frame that supports the weight of a turbine’s rotor, gearbox and drive shaft on the tower, according to a GE statement.
GE not laying down patent fight with Mitsubishi
General Electric alleges Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is violating two additional wind turbine patents, and pledges to appeal a ruling last month in MHI’s favour in an earlier patent infringement and trade case.
