GE no shoo-in for future projects says US offshore wind pioneer

GE’s 150-6MW Haliade turbine is “great technology, a great machine”, Deepwater chief executive Jeffrey Grybowski tells Recharge.

“We spent a lot of time looking at technologies and designs [before settling on the Haliade],” he says. “We really like the gearless technology.”

Due online next month, Deepwater’s 30MW Block Island is the first offshore wind farm built in the Americas, and the first commercial project for GE’s offshore turbines.
