GE Renewable Energy has halted plans for a wind turbine blade plant in northeast England.

The US-owned group announced in March last year that it planned to build the facility at the Teesworks development on Teesside, but now says that it will not be proceeding.

“While we are not moving forward with plans for a Teesside facility due to lack of volume, we remain committed to supporting the growth of UK offshore wind, including powering what will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm at Dogger Bank,” said a GE spokesperson.
