GE Renewable Energy has confirmed its order from developer Vineyard Wind for 62 of record-setting Haliade-X 13MW turbines for the eponymous Vineyard Wind 1 project in the US Atlantic.

Vineyard, a joint venture between Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, is the first commercial scale wind farm to reach financial close and had already named GE as preferred supplier.

This is the first confirmed order in the US for the GE Haliade-X, the prototype of which has been running in a quasi-offshore site in the Port of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, and positions the company for future projects in the burgeoning regional play, where it has already also been named preferred supplier for Orsted's 1.1GW
