GE Renewable Energy scored the biggest deal yet for its Cypress onshore wind platform when it was confirmed as supplier to the 244MW Bango project in Australia.
Bango will use 46 5.3MW Cypress machines when it enters service in New South Wales in 2021 said Partners Group, the global investment group which is co-developing the A$500m ($337m) project with CWP Renewables.
The supply deal is the first for Cypress machines in Australia and the largest globally, said GE Renewable Energy, which launched the platform in 2018 to take its onshore wind business into the 4-5MW arena.
Bango is the third project under the Grassroots Renewable Energy platform formed last year by Partners Group and CWP. The wind farm has a 15-year offtake deal in place for 100MW of its output with power group Snowy Hydro.
