The facility in La Muela, Spain, combines a G52-850 kW wind turbine with 816 PV modules (245kW) and three, 222kW diesel generators. The plan is to add a battery capable of storing 500 kWh by summer. Together, they generate power for 400 homes.
The prototype includes control software custom-developed by Gamesa to facilitate integration of the four technologies.
Gamesa asserts the off-grid system is the first in the global market with more than 2MW nameplate generation capacity.
