New legislation to speed up the deployment of renewables in France could actually slow it down, endangering energy security and risking even higher power prices, the country’s wind industry has warned.

The warning comes ahead of a debate in the French parliament that starts today (Monday) and which the industry fears could see the reinstatement of anti-wind amendments in key legislation, mostly from the far right and opposition National Rally – formerly National Front – of Marine Le Pen, as well as conservative Republicans that on other occasions have cooperated with President Emmanuel Macron's centrist government.
