The UK’s Crown Estate awarded the company an exclusivity agreement for the zone in early 2009, alongside nine other areas totaling 6GW handed out in Scottish Territorial Waters.
The Crown Estate says it now hopes to see 5.2GW of capacity built in Scottish Territorial Waters, down from the 6GW level it touted when it initially awarded the exclusivity agreements.
With completion at the Forth Array not expected until 2018, FOR, part of the Norwegian shipping and energy conglomerate controlled by the Olsen family, has chosen to concentrate on projects with a shorter time frame, explains Nick Emery, managing director of FOR’s UK operations.
