The French government could expand to up to 2GW the scope of the planned Oleron wind zone off the island with the same name on its Atlantic coast.
As well as a project of 500MW to 1GW for a first wind farm, a public debate should decide whether building a second 1GW project in the area is advisable, the ecological transition ministry said.
