The French government has doubled the size of the planned Oleron wind zone off the island with the same name on its Atlantic coast to 2GW.

After a public debate with more than 15,000 participants was completed earlier this year, ecological transition minister Christophe Béchu, energy transition minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher and secretary of state for the sea Hervé Berville have announced that the government has selected two 1GW zones for the project in the southern part of the country’s Atlantic Ocean coast.
