Towering tripod foundations stand behind the factory, like chalked-up dinosaurs ready for surgery. Immediately next door is Areva’s enormous turbine plant, and just around the quay, less than a five-minute walk away, is REpower’s production hall.
On the water, connected to WeserWind’s factory by a short rail system, is the company’s new ballastable pontoon, onto which it loads two tripods at a time and ferries them several kilometres up the River Weser to Bremerhaven’s ABC docks, for transport to Trianel’s Borkum West 2 and Windreich’s Global Tech 1 offshore projects.
