Floating wind power pioneer BW Ideol is sizing up launch of serial production of its unique ‘damping pool’ foundations at the Scottish port of Ardersier, after inking a partnership deal with the site’s owners.

BW Ideol said it had agreed “exclusive long-term access” to the former offshore oil fabrication yard near Inverness in northeast Scotland, described as “the largest brownfield port in the UK” with access to a 2.2km quay.

France-based BW Ideol said it and the Ardersier Port Authority would “explore the set-up of a serial production line dedicated to the delivery of locally manufactured floating wind substructures based on BW Ideol’s proven damping pool technology”.
