Floating wind is ideal for quickly meeting the growing thirst for power among big industrial customers in southern Sweden, while far-shore arrays are also easier to steer through the permitting process, said Magnus Hallmann, chief executive at Freja Offshore.

The joint venture between Aker Offshore Wind and Hexicon currently has a pipeline of four projects off the Nordic country with a combined capacity of 8GW, and despite Hexicon’s co-ownership is pursuing a tech-neutral approach, Hallmann, CEO since May, revealed to Recharge.
