Construction of the first of three semisubmersible floating wind turbine platforms for the Windplus consortium’s 25MW WindFloat Atlantic project off Portugal is underway at Navantia’s yard in Fene, Spain.

Being built by the Navantia-Windar joint venture – which also manufactured the spar foundations for Equinor’s landmark Hwyind Scotland array – the WindFloat hulls, designed by US outfit Principle Power (PPI), will be delivered at the end of June 2019 for top-out with MHI Vestas 8.4MW
