Nordex USA says the N100 has a hub height and rotor diameter of 100 meters, giving it a swept area of 7,823 metres square. In winds of 7.5 metres per second, the larger swept area can yield a 20% increase in power compared with the company’s smaller N90 2.5MW turbine.
The developer, Emerging Energies of Wisconsin, sought to maximize available land and wind with the largest, tallest turbine available, according to co-founder Bill Rakocy.
