First UK offshore wind corporate PPA as utility taps Orsted

The UK’s world-leading offshore wind sector has its first corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) after a deal between developer Orsted and utility Northumbrian Water.

The 10-year PPA will see Northumbrian Water take 30% of its renewable power from the 573MW Race Bank offshore wind farm off eastern England.

The 100GWh per-year deal is the first of its kind in UK offshore wind, said Orsted, which will also provide balancing services under the agreement.
