The first European offshore wind farm powered by turbines from a Chinese manufacturer has been completed off Taranto, Italy.

Developer Renexia, a unit of infrastructure firm Toto Holding, on Thursday inaugurated the 30MW Beleolico nearshore wind array in the port area of the southern Italian city in the Apulia region, a company official confirmed to Recharge.

The pilot array is the first in Italy and in the Mediterranean Sea, as well as the first offshore wind farm in Europe to feature machines from Chinese OEM MingYang Smart Energy.
