Finavera gets C$7.5m and help from GE on four wind projects

Finavera Renewables says it has signed a joint development agreement with GE Energy, providing C$7.5m ($7.3m) in funding and positioning GE as the preferred turbine supplier for about 300MW of wind projects in British Columbia, Canada.

Finavera says GE will help it with project development funding and expertise for four wind projects in the Peace Region of the Canadian province.

In March, Finavera won 25-year power purchase contracts for the projects from BC Hydro.

They are: Windmare Wind Energy, 71MW, and Tumbler Ridge Wind Energy, 45MW, with scheduled construction in 2012; Meikle Wind Energy, 117MW, and Bullmoose Wind Energy, 60MW, with construction starts in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
