Lack of projects, not lack of funding is the biggest challenge facing Europe’s wind sector, warned the continent’s industry body in its latest review of financing that highlights ongoing regulatory barriers to growth.
Europe confirmed €43bn ($51.2bn) of investments in new wind projects in 2020, said WindEurope, the second highest annual figure yet despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic and a 70% increase on 2019.
