Industry body WindEurope has sounded the alarm bells over European turbine orders after charting a fall of more than a third in the most recent third quarter.

WindEurope claimed policy barriers such as slow permitting plus inflationary pressures have stalled projects and contributed to a 36% Q3 decline year-on-year (see panel at foot), putting green ambitions of the EU and individual nations at risk.

The industry body logged 2GW of orders in the third quarter, based on disclosed deals by listed OEMs and its own estimates.
