The European wind industry is underpinned by strong support from its citizens and, increasingly, its businesses as it expands to become the continent’s largest single electricity source, said the CEO of industry lobbying group WindEurope.

Giles Dickson told the Davos Energy Week online conference that despite some vocal detractors, wind enjoys widespread backing from the public.

“Opinion polls tell us that at least 70% of the population of every country in Europe wants more wind energy,” said Dickson.
