European offshore wind operating expenditure (Opex) is expected to plummet over the next decade, driven by larger and more reliable turbines, economies of scale gained through higher-capacity projects, new service practices and “clustering opportunities” among developments, according to new research from Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables.

At the same time, the accelerating worldwide build-out will mean that the global market for operations and maintenance (O&M) will nonethless grow some 17% year-on-year to be worth €11bn ($12.4bn)
