TheOffshore Wind Infrastructure Application Lab (OWI-Lab), built in the port ofAntwerp with government investment by technology R&D body Sirris, put a transformer developed by CG Power through its paces in conditionsdown to -40C.

CG’s33kV 5.5MVA Bio-Slim unit, a turbine transformer for in-nacelleinstallation, was trialled over four days with a test sequence that included afull-load cold start at -30C.

“Ourcustomers need transformers that will operate without any problems at alltimes, even under extreme climatic conditions,” says CG chief technologyofficer Jan Declerq.
