The wind farm between the cities of Umea and Sundsvall, some 500km north of Stockholm, will consist of 48 3MW Siemens machines.

Completion of the wind farm is slated for the spring of 2015. The project is part of SWM’s renewable energy push that aims to provide all of Munich’s 1.4 million inhabitants and its industry with renewable energy by 2025.

“We would have liked to have realised such a project in Germany, but unfortunately the conditions for investors here are still subject to high insecurity,” SWM CEO Florian Bieberbach said.
