Europe will have to fight to maintain its front-running position in the worldwide wind market as the build-out of new projects off Asia and the US accelerates in the next ten years.

New calculus from consultancy Wood Mackenzie forecasts a near six-fold growth in offshore wind power plants around the globe, reaching some 120GW a decade from now, but while the UK and Germany accounted for almost 90% of grid-connected capacity at the end of 2017, this slice of the market is expected to narrow to under 60% by 2027.
