Norwegian state-controlled oil major and floating wind pioneer Equinor has the ambition to reduce its domestic greenhouse gas emissions from offshore oil and gas exploration and onshore plants to close to zero by 2050.

Is this a very welcome ambition by an oil company actually caring about the world’s climate, or is it only more greenwashing to improve the image of a dirty industry?

What springs to mind immediately is that the company hasn’t used this opportunity to announce more spending on renewable energy projects, which would be a logical step if it wants to reduce emissions.
