German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon plans to link with utility group EWE for a project development joint venture.

Enercon owner Aloys Wobben Foundation signed a letter of intent with EWE over the 50-50 onshore wind partnership, which will cover 2.5GW of existing plants and a 2.3GW project pipeline and look to generate further growth "nationally and internationally".

Oldenburg-based EWE, based in the same northwestern German region as Enercon, is already an established renewables operator in Germany with an onshore and offshore wind presence.
