EnBW declined to comment to Recharge on claims that Enbridge had seen off Australia’s Macquarie in the race for a stake of up to 49.9% in the German North Sea wind farm.
The impending Enbridge investment was reported by financial newswire Reuters quoting an unnamed source close to the deal.
Enbridge aims to triple its renewables capacity by 2020. In late 2015, it bought 25% of the Rampion project off the UK coast and earlier this year invested C$282m ($217m) in a French offshore wind project company owned by EDF Energies Nouvelles.
