Green energy giant EDP Renewables has reached agreements to buy a 628MW wind and solar portfolio in the booming Chilean market, with commercial operations expected to start between 2023 and 2025.

Chile is the third renewable energy market in Latin America the Portuguese utility is entering, after already operating 0.4GW in Brazil and developing 1.6GW in Brazil and Colombia.

The transaction has been reached through two separate agreements with Atacama Energy and Lader Energy for a total consideration of up to $38m, conditional to the successful achievement of pre-determined milestones for each project.
