Capping a blockbuster week for the US offshore wind market, EDF Renewables and Shell New Energies announced a new joint venture to co-develop a 2.5GW zone in federal waters off New Jersey, buying the project from developer US Wind.

The new 50/50 JV, known as Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, will now begin the years-long development process for the 183,000-acre (750 sq km) zone that begins about eight miles off the coast of Atlantic City.
