E.ON, the world’s largest energy utility in terms of sales, saw its revenues drop 6% to €82bn and its operating profit fall 2.3% to €9.6bn last year. The Düsseldorf-based firm has been slammed by an unprecedented reduction in electricity demand across Europe.
But E.ON’s Climate & Renewables division, headed by Frank Mastiaux, outperformed the overall company, ballooning its operating profit to €146m from €66m, and packing on another 100 employees.
