Duke Energy Renewables has now surpassed 1GW of wind generation capacity there – eight projects totaling 1.15GW. Los Vientos III is located in southern Texas 100 miles west of Brownsville near the border with Mexico.
Austin Energy, which is buying the full output and renewable energy credits from Los Vientos III over 25 years, now has more than 1GW of wind in its energy portfolio, about one-third of its total generating capacity.
