Wind giant Siemens Gamesa will more than double the size of its flagship blade plant in northeast England after receiving support from the UK government that will also separately spur the construction of a new turbine tower plant in the region.

Siemens Gamesa’s Hull plant will by 2023 be expanded to enable production of next-generation turbine blades after a £186m ($258m) investment, said the Spanish-German OEM which first opened a facility there in 2016 to serve projects in the UK North Sea and beyond.
