The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), which acts as the US government’s overseer of wind development in federal coastal waters, awarded RES those rights in a competitive auction in January.
RES Americas, part of the UK-based RES Group, bid $281,285 for the 187,523-acre (758.9sq km) parcel.
A green light from BOEM would be Dong’s first foray beyond Europe, where it has been the main driving force in European offshore wind.
