DNV has published what it calls the world’s first practice to reduce earthquake challenges for wind farms in order to minimise cost, warranty and liability risks as well as optimise plant design in regions with seismic conditions, particularly in Asia Pacific and the US.

As wind power expands in those markets, there is an increasing need to ensure the design of wind turbines and other assets of a wind farm such as the offshore substation can meet the challenging conditions seen in those regions, the consultancy and certifier said.
